Funny URL and domain name blunders

We have collected some hilarious website names that will tickle your funny bone. Let’s get on with our funny url list.

    1) Childrenswear

Childrenswear registered their domain name as its company registered name. Now look how people are viewing it.

Instead of seeing ‘Children’s Wear’, we see ‘Children Swear’.

We need to avoid such names, which can bring negative publicity to the brand and evades potential customers.

Speaking of children swearing, enjoy the video below:

    3) Hireatease

This is an Indian IT recruitment company. I ain’t joking around, you can check by clicking the link yourself.

    4) Speedofart

This domain name is a work of Fart!

Because one can’t guess whether it’s “Speedo-Fart” or “Speed of art

But then again, i had to find out so i clicked on this link hoping something to be else.

Thank God! I was relieved to find out its just a silly domain name mistake. That how it made the list.

But this is another example of how wordplay can get you.

    5) Oldmanshaven

    Old Man Shaven… Yikes!

Old Man’s Haven is a website for cabin rentals, not a barber shop or whatever you are thinking ????.

    6) Wintersexpress

The mistake is quite evident here.

They must have got many emails at the customer’s support end for ED support. ???? ????

The name change makes it even more funnier, as the new domain name has the word “Net” twice in it.

    8) Fagray

It’s definitely not “fag-ray” (ROFL), it’s Fa Gray, a full-service painting contractors website. It’s providing services since the early 1990’s.

The person that owns this domain name surely was out of gas or had gas while buying this domain name. The domain is up for sale now for obvious reasons ????‍.

    10) Poolife

Either it’s negative marketing or a mistake, as the website is not about Poo Life.

The funny URL address takes users to Pool Life, a brand selling pool maintenance and pool care products.

Now let’s talk about some of the worst domain names.

These domain names should be in a wall of shame with silly wordplay that will confuse when you will share your business link on socials or with your customers.

Are you a victim of a funny URL error?

Well, it’s your mistake, worry not!

We can all make silly errors, so we also got the solution for your URL letters problem.

If you mistakenly chosen a wrong domain name and it’s affecting your business, then it’s time to get a new domain name.

While changing a domain name can be challenging, taking these steps can help mitigate the impact of a wrong domain choice and ensure a smoother transition to a more suitable domain for your business.

Step 1: Register a New Domain:

If feasible, register a new domain name that aligns better with your brand, business, and target audience. Choose a domain that is memorable, easy to spell, and reflects your core offerings.

Step 2: Redirect the Old Domain:

Set up a redirect from the wrong domain to the new one. This ensures that visitors who type in the old domain or click on old links are automatically redirected to your new domain, minimizing any potential loss of traffic or customer confusion.

    Step 3: Communicate the Change

Update your website, marketing materials, and online listings to reflect the new domain name. Inform customers, clients, and stakeholders about the change through email newsletters, social media posts, and other relevant channels to ensure a smooth transition.

    Step 4: Update Online Presence

Update your email addresses, social media profiles, and any other online platforms associated with the old domain. Ensure consistency across all your digital channels to avoid confusion among your audience.

What to do if you mistakenly created a wrong slug?

    Method 1: Set up Redirection

First, it’s important to determine the type of redirect you want to implement.

One method to set up a redirection is by using a URL shortener.

    Here’s how it works:

Link shorteners let you customize your slugs of your links with your brand name or a relevant keyword.
Further, use of a URL shortening service allows you to generate a short and catchy URL that redirects to your main domain. Such URLs are easier to share, visually appealing and encourage click-throughs.

Other methods to set up redirects:

    1. Server-side redirects (using .htaccess or server configuration)
    2. CMS plugins (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.)
    3. Website builder or hosting platform features
    4. JavaScript redirects
    5. Meta refresh redirects
    6. PHP header redirects
    7. Redirect plugins or modules for specific platforms (Magento, Shopify, etc.)
    8. API-based redirects (using programming languages like Python or Ruby)
    9. DNS-level redirects
    10. Reverse proxy redirects

Note: Redirects are valuable for preserving SEO value, maintaining user experience, and managing website changes.
However, avoid excessive redirect chains, which can negatively impact performance and user satisfaction.

Method 2: Disavow the wrong URL

To disavow a wrong URL, typically referring to that page, you wish to remove from your site or you no longer associate with, follow these steps:

    1. Identify the Wrong URL:
      • Determine the specific URL or URLs that you want to disavow. This could be a page on your own website or an external website linking to your site.
    2. Contact Website Owners (if applicable):
      • If the wrong URL is hosted on another website, reach out to the website owner or administrator. Request the removal or correction of the link pointing to your site.
    3. Create a Disavow File:
      • Create a text file (.txt) using a plain text editor like Notepad. List the URLs you want to disavow, with one URL per line. Include both the domain and the specific URL, if necessary.
    4. Format the Disavow File: Use the following format for each URL:
      • To disavow a specific page: disavow: http://www.example.com/wrong-page.html
      • To disavow an entire domain: domain:example.com
    5. Submit the Disavow File:
      • Log in to Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools) and navigate to the Disavow Links tool. Select your website, click on “Disavow Links,” and upload the disavow file you created. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the submission.
    6. Monitor and Assess:
      • After submitting the disavow file, monitor your website’s performance and search rankings. It may take some time for search engines to process the disavow request and adjust the way they treat the links. Keep an eye on any changes and assess the impact of the disavowal on your website’s visibility.

Note: Remember, disavowing links should be used cautiously and as a last resort. It’s recommended to first attempt to have the wrong URLs removed or corrected by contacting the website owners directly.

8 Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing A Domain Name

When selecting a domain name, it’s essential to be mindful of grammar mistakes that can adversely impact your online presence. Here are some common errors to avoid:

    1. Lengthy URLs:
      • Opt for concise and easy-to-remember URLs. Long URLs are prone to typos and can be challenging for users to type accurately.
    2. Irrelevant Keywords:
      • Ensure that your URL reflects the content or purpose of your website. Irrelevant keywords can mislead users and negatively impact search engine optimization.
    3. Inconsistent Branding:
      • Maintain brand consistency between your URL and your brand. Using a URL that deviates significantly from your brand can confuse users and weaken your online identity.
    4. Misspelling:
      • Double-check for any misspelled words in your domain name, as it can confuse visitors and make it harder for them to find your website.
    5. Improper word usage:
      • Ensure that you’re using words correctly and in the right context. Using homophones or similar-sounding words can lead to confusion.
    6. Incorrect punctuation:
      • Be cautious with the use of hyphens, underscores, or other punctuation marks. They can make your domain name look unprofessional or difficult to remember.
    7. Subject-verb agreement:
      • Maintain proper subject-verb agreement in your domain name to ensure grammatical correctness and clarity.
    8. Pluralization and singularization:
      • Pay attention to whether a word should be singular or plural in your domain name. Using the wrong form can lead to confusion or incorrect assumptions.

    Concluding Remarks

At the end, i would say choose a good branded domain. If you won’t add the dash at the right places, then your funny URL will add a dash of humor to your customers’ everyday browsing.

How to measure social media engagement?

The basic formula for calculating social media engagement rate is as follows:

Engagement Rate = (Total Engagements / Total Reach) * 100

To calculate the engagement rate, you need two key metrics: total engagements and total reach.

    1. Total Engagements: This includes all the interactions on your social media post, such as likes, comments, shares, and clicks. Add up the number of engagements for a specific post or across multiple posts within a given timeframe.
    2. Total Reach: This represents the number of unique users who have been exposed to your social media post. It can be measured by the impressions or reach metrics provided by the social media platform.

Here are some engagement factors to consider across major social platforms respectively.

    • Include relevant keywords: Incorporate keywords that accurately reflect the content of the page. This helps search engines understand the topic and improves your chances of ranking for relevant searches.
    • Keep it concise and readable: Create permalinks that are easy to read and understand.Use hyphens (-) to separate words and avoid using numbers or special characters. A clear and concise permalink improves user experience and SEO.
    • Use a hierarchical structure: Organize your permalinks in a logical and hierarchical structure that reflects the structure of your website. This helps search engines understand the relationships between different pages and sections.
    • Exclude stop words: Remove unnecessary words like “and,” “the,” or “of” from your permalinks. Focus on the essential keywords that convey the main topic of the page.
    • Avoid changing permalinks frequently: Once you set a permalink structure, try to stick with it to maintain consistency. Changing permalinks frequently can lead to broken links and negatively impact your SEO. If you need to change a permalink, set up proper redirects to maintain SEO value.
    • Customize permalink settings:
    permalink setting

If you’re using a content management system (CMS) like WordPress, utilize its permalink settings to customize the URL structure. Choose a format that includes post titles or categories to optimize for SEO.

    • Consider user experience: Permalinks should not only be optimized for search engines but also for users. Create permalinks that are descriptive and provide a clear idea of what the page is about. This helps users understand the content before clicking.
    • Monitor and update: Regularly monitor your website’s performance, rankings, and user behavior. If you notice any issues or changes in search engine visibility, review and update your permalinks as needed.
    • Set up proper 301 redirects:

    • Keep the keywords consistent: Try to include the same or similar keywords in the new permalink as in the old one. This helps search engines understand the relevance of the content and maintain your rankings.
    • Update internal links: Don’t forget to update any internal links within your website that point to the old permalink. Make sure they now point to the new permalink to provide a seamless user experience and maintain your SEO value.
    • Reach out to external websites: If you have control over external websites linking to your old permalink, it’s a good idea to contact them and ask if they can update the links. This way, you preserve the link equity and SEO value associated with those backlinks.
    • Submit your sitemap and fetch as Google: Update your website’s sitemap to include the new permalink and submit it to search engines. Additionally, use the “Fetch as Google” tool in Google Search Console to prompt search engines to crawl and index the new permalink.
    • Keep an eye on your website’s performance: Monitor your website’s rankings and performance after the permalink change. Check for any fluctuations or issues and make adjustments if necessary.
    • Keyword relevance:

Permalinks that include relevant keywords help search engines understand the content of a page. Including targeted keywords in the permalink can improve the page’s visibility for those specific search terms.

    • Click-through rates: A well-structured and descriptive permalink can attract more clicks from users in search engine results pages (SERPs). When the permalink accurately reflects the content, it provides a clear idea to users about what they can expect on the page, leading to higher click-through rates.
    • Backlink anchor text: When other websites link to your content, they often use the URL as the anchor text. Having relevant keywords in the permalink contributes to the anchor text of those backlinks, which can positively influence SEO and keyword rankings.
    • Indexing and crawling: Permalinks play a role in search engine crawling and indexing processes. Clear and logical permalink structures make it easier for search engine bots to understand the organization and hierarchy of your website, leading to better indexing and potentially improved search visibility.
    • URL sharing:

  • Affiliate link tracking to optimize your earnings

Affiliate link tracking to optimize your earnings

Do you know, affiliate marketers earn $59,060 per year? It is considered a reliable source of passive income. Isn’t it amazing? But how to set up and track affiliate links? Let’s find out in this blog.

    What are affiliate links?

Affiliate links are special URLs that contain a unique identifier that associates a sale with an affiliate marketer. When a user clicks on an affiliate link and makes a purchase, the affiliate marketer earns a commission on the sale.

Affiliate marketing is a popular way for bloggers, influencers, and website owners to earn money by promoting products or services to their audience. It can also be a cost-effective way for businesses to reach new customers and increase sales.

    What does affiliate tracking mean?

Affiliate tracking refers to the process of tracking the performance of affiliate marketing campaigns. It involves using a unique tracking link or code to monitor clicks, conversions, and sales generated by affiliate marketers.

When an affiliate marketer promotes a product or service, they include a special affiliate tracking link or code in their content. When a user clicks on the link and makes a purchase, the affiliate tracking software records the transaction and attributes the sale to the affiliate.

The tracking software then calculates the commission owed to the affiliate based on the agreed-upon commission rate and other terms and conditions of the affiliate program.

This allows businesses and affiliates to track the performance of their campaigns, monitor their earnings, and make informed decisions about their marketing strategies.

Affiliate tracking can be done using a variety of software tools and platforms, including affiliate networks, third-party tracking software, and in-house tracking systems.

These tools typically provide detailed analytics and reporting features, which allow businesses and affiliates to analyze their performance data and optimize their campaigns for better results.

Why is link tracking important for affiliate marketers?

Let’s look into a few reasons why link tracking is important for affiliate marketing:

    Monitor campaign performance:

Link tracking enables businesses and affiliates to track clicks, conversions, and sales generated by their marketing campaigns. This information can help them identify which campaigns are performing well and which ones need improvement.

    Optimize marketing strategies:

With link tracking, businesses, and affiliates can analyze data to identify trends and patterns that can inform their marketing strategies. For example, they can determine which marketing channels or tactics are driving the most sales and focus their efforts on those areas.

    Calculate commissions accurately:

Link tracking ensures that affiliates are credited for the sales they generate, and they receive accurate commissions based on the agreed-upon commission rate and other terms and conditions of the affiliate program.

    Avoid Scam:

Link tracking can help prevent fraudulent activities, such as click fraud or cookie stuffing, which can artificially inflate clicks and conversions and result in inaccurate commission payments.

What to look for in affiliate tracking software?

When selecting an affiliate tracking software, there are several key features and factors to consider. Here are some important things to look for:

    Reliability and uptime:

The software should be reliable and have a high uptime to ensure that tracking is accurate and uninterrupted.

    Compatibility:

The software should be compatible with the platforms and systems used by your business and affiliates, such as website platforms, payment gateways, and advertising networks.

    Customization:

The software should be customizable to meet the unique needs of your business and affiliates, such as commission structures, tracking parameters, and reporting features.

    Tracking accuracy:

The software should provide accurate tracking to prevent fraudulent activities such as click fraud or cookie stuffing.

    Reporting and analytics:

The software should provide detailed reporting and analytics features, such as campaign performance data, earnings reports, and conversion rates.

    Integration with third-party tools:

The software should integrate with other tools and services used by your business and affiliates, such as marketing automation tools, email marketing software, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

    Customer support:

The software provider should offer reliable customer support and resources to help businesses and affiliates use the software effectively and resolve any issues that may arise.

What Is a TikTok pixel & learn how to set it up

    What is a TikTok Pixel?

TikTok Pixel is a tracking pixel code on your website to track conversion events. It also helps advertisers track user behavior on their website after clicking on a TikTok ad.

It is similar to the tracking pixels used by other social media platforms, such as Facebook Pixel. With the Pixel installed, you can track everything from page views to purchases, allowing you to understand your audience better and tailor your TikTok ads accordingly.

If you want to make a splash on TikTok and maximize its potential as an advertising platform, you need to jump on the pixel bandwagon.

But setting up the TikTok Pixel can be a head-scratcher, especially if you’re new to digital marketing.

That’s why we’ve created this comprehensive guide that walks you through everything you need to learn about the TikTok Pixel – what it is, how it works, and step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.

Whether you’re a seasoned digital marketer or new to TikTok advertising, this guide will provide the details and tools you need to set up TikTok pixel on your website. And you’ll be ready to start measuring your conversions in no time!

Also Read: How to Build a TikTok Marketing Strategy for Your Business?

Why use a TikTok tracking pixel? What is the TikTok Pixel used for?

    why use tiktok pixel?

    Well, there are several reasons.

    • First and foremost, TikTok Pixel helps you with TikTok analytics and measures the effectiveness of your ad campaigns. Let’s say you’re running a TikTok ad campaign to promote a new product on your website. By using it, you can see how many people have clicked on your ad, visited your website, and how many of them made a purchase. This information can help you determine the ROI of your ad campaign and whether it’s worth continuing to invest in.
    • Secondly, it allows you to optimize your ad campaigns. Using the data collected by it, you can identify which ads are performing well and which ones aren’t. For example, if you see users spending more time on a particular page of your website after clicking on an ad, you can use that information to create more ads that drive users to that page.
    • Finally, it enables you to retarget users. Let’s say someone visits your website after clicking on a TikTok ad, but needs to make a purchase. With TikTok Pixel, you can retarget that user with a follow-up ad tailored to their interests. For example, you could show them an ad for the product they were looking at on your website.

    Benefits of using TikTok Pixel

    benefits of tiktok pixel

Here are some of the fantastic benefits that TikTok Pixel offers to advertisers.

    • Track Conversions

It allows you to track user actions on your websites or apps, such as purchases, form submissions, and downloads. This data can be used to measure your advertising campaigns’ effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.

For example, a hotel chain can use TikTok Pixel to track bookings made by users who clicked on their ads, helping them to calculate the return on their ad spend.

    • Create Custom audiences

With TikTok’s Pixel, you can create custom audiences based on user behavior on your website or app. This allows you to target users who have already shown an interest in your product or service and are more likely to convert.

For example, a skincare brand can create a custom audience of users who have visited their website in the past 30 days but have yet to purchase it. They can then display ads to this audience on TikTok, promoting a special offer to incentivize them to buy.

    • Optimize campaigns

It allows you to optimize your campaigns for specific objectives, such as conversions or clicks. This means the platform will automatically adjust your campaign settings to deliver the best results based on your chosen goal.

For example, if you’re running a campaign to drive website traffic, you can optimize your TikTok ad delivery to show your ads to users who are likely to click through to your site.

    • Enhanced ad retargeting

It also enables you to retarget visitors who have interacted with your brand in the past, such as users who have visited your website or engaged with your TikTok ads. This helps to keep your brand top of mind and can increase the likelihood of conversion.

Let’s take Retargeting ad examples of a clothing brand that uses TikTok Pixel to track the pages a user visits on their website and use this information to display ads for specific products to that user on TikTok.

    • Attribution modeling

It allows you to attribute conversions and other user actions to specific advertising campaigns, ad groups, or even individual ads. This helps you to understand which of your campaigns are driving the best results and make data-driven decisions about where to invest your ad budget.

    How does TikTok Pixel work?

    how tiktok pixel works?

TikTok Pixel works by placing a small code on your website or app. This code is a snippet of JavaScript that will run on every page of the website where it’s installed.

Once the Pixel is installed, it will start collecting data about user behavior, such as page views, sign-ups, and purchases. This data is then sent back to TikTok, where you can access it through your TikTok Ads Manager to gain insights into the TikTok analytics and ad campaign’s performance and optimize it for better results.

How to set up your TikTok Pixel?

Setting up your Pixel is relatively simple. Here’s the step-by-step process on how to do it.

  • 5 Essential Steps to Set Up a Solid Influencer Marketing Campaign

5 Essential Steps to Set Up a Solid Influencer Marketing Campaign

What are the essential steps to set up an essential influencer marketing campaign?
Influencer marketing campaign steps are to establish goals, identify the right influencers, set strategy, measure results and readjust strategy.

You may have heard the term “influencer marketing” thrown around a lot lately, but what does it mean?

Influencer marketing is about leveraging relationships with key individuals who hold sway over their audience. These people could be bloggers, Vloggers, celebrities, or highly engaged customers.

If you want to set up a successful influencer marketing campaign, follow the five essential influencer marketing campaign steps. Read on to find out more!

    1. Establish Your Goals

Before you start reaching out to potential influencers, you must first establish your goals. Do you want to increase brand awareness? Drive traffic to your website? Boost sales?

Once you know what you want to achieve, you can start identifying the right influencers to help you reach your goals.

Pro tip: As with any other marketing campaign, these goals must be “Smart”.

Let’s say you want more visitors to your website. A SMART goal would sound like this:

“I want to increase traffic to my website by 10% within the next three months.”

    Why is this important?

    • Having a precise goal helps you establish concrete key performance indicators to track it.
    • You can pick the right strategy, tools, and messages for this goal.
    • You can find the right influencers for your purpose.

    Take this example:

Andy Neal is a plus-size model, hiker, and micro-influencer. His (funny, emotion-filled) posts mostly show him hiking in different environments. Andy has talked at length about his mental health and how hiking outdoors has helped him become more grounded.

As an advocate for health at every size, Andy Neal is the perfect influencer for companies retailing plus-size clothing.

In the post above, you can see Andy touching on a current online controversy: does promoting plus-size gear also mean promoting obesity?

That question raises people’s interest, warming them up as the presented opinion elicits different emotions (intrigue, indignation, approval, and so forth). After reading Andy’s arguments, the followers are presented with a question and the author’s answer:

“Do you have a favorite brand you wear for the trail or the gym or for exercise?

You all know my answer, @columbia1938 !”

After warming his followers up with his diatribe, Andy savvily introduces the brand he’s wearing. That way, after building up people’s approval, they’re more likely to click on the brand mention, thus increasing the traffic.

As such, this post’s primary goal is to raise traffic. The subordinated objective could be increasing sales as people who like the brand’s Instagram posts may also click on its website.

However, raising sales isn’t the main goal because there’s no discount code or direct link to the company’s product pages. You can also notice the perfect fit between the brand and this influencer.

That brings us to the next influencer marketing campaign step.

    2. Identify the Right Influencers

Not all influencers are created equal. When looking for people to promote your brand, it’s important to find ones that are a good fit. This means considering factors such as audience, engagement rate, content style, and personal values.

Let’s say you run an eco-friendly fashion brand. You would want to look for influencers who care about sustainability and are likely to resonate with your target audience.

Remember: You also need the right influencers for your goals.

But can you tell if one content creator is better to increase your visibility,  boost your sales, or win back old customers?

    Yes, and here’s how:

    a) Suppose your goal is to increase traffic to your website:

In that case, you’re looking for influencers likely to link to your site in their content. That’s why looking for content creators in your industry would be beneficial.

These people should be popular and know how to push their follower’s emotions. They should create FOMO, desire, trends, and controversy like no other.

That’s exactly what Andy Neal did in the previous example.

    b) Or suppose you want more people to buy your product:

In that case, you’ll be looking for influencers with an engaged following on social media, preferably people who have previously talked about similar products.

In this case, you’re looking for more objective influencers. These people can have direct conversations with your audience, convincing them of your product’s true benefits.

One good example, in this case, is Carter Sullivan for the Mogo App. Mogo is an online app that helps people become more financially responsible as they keep track of their expenses. As such, users can get out of debt, save money, and build their financial freedom. If you’re already dealing with financial strain, particularly from existing debt, finding a debt relief service near you can be a practical way to regain control and ease financial stress.

The company’s main audience is Gen Z, Carter Sullivan is an excellent choice. As a Zoomer with some previous debt she got out of by using Mogo, she’s perfect for explaining to people the app’s advantages.

Pro tip: Nano-influencers, although they have smaller audiences, are better at direct contact. That means they can actively engage in conversations about your product with their fans, convincing them to buy your brand.

    c) Suppose you want to re-engage old customers that have moved on to a different brand:

In this case, looking for an influencer who’s already talking about your industry but isn’t necessarily promoting any one brand would make sense.

You want an expert in the field who’s identified one key issue with their audience that only your brand can solve.

    Here’s a potential example:

Let’s say you’re retailing organic food, but following the latest financial developments, your products have become too expensive for some of your audience. In this case, you can focus on one of their most poignant needs.

And studies show that people often buy products if they feel they’re making a difference. This is especially valid for Gen Z and Millennials, but also Gen X.

So, you could partner with a local influencer that explains the importance of supporting local producers in troubled times. Alternatively, you could partner with a content creator that promotes eco-friendly, locally sourced brands.

Focusing on health and supporting the environment may bring back some old customers.

However, the premise we started from was the price being the central issue. To solve this, you can consider adding a discount or exclusive access to some products through your content creators.

It’s all about strategy. We’ll talk about that below, but for now, here are just a few reminders before we get started:

    • Some influencers may be fake:

To avoid being duped, use a fake influencer checker.

    • Use an engagement rate calculator:

Regardless of your goals, you want to ensure your content creators hold sway over your audience. So, simply having a large following isn’t enough; you want to make sure those followers are involved (quality comments and shares are just a few examples).

    • Use the proper channels to find influencers:

From Google to hashtag searches on social media, geolocation searches, and dedicated platforms or AI software – the world wide web is your oyster. You can also use your professional network, search through your customer & supplier databases, or Google your brand mentions. But all that may take a lot of time. If you’ve never worked with content creators, your best bet is contacting an influencer marketing agency. The best ones will work with you tightly instead of ignoring your plans, offering comprehensive services. That way, you can learn the ropes and adjust the process to your needs seamlessly.

    • Before boarding your influencers, create foolproof contracts:

Outline all terms, rights, and obligations for both parties. That way, you can ensure your influencers deliver the promised content without delays or social media risks.

    3. Define Your Influencer Marketing Strategy

Now that you know your goals and who the right influencers are, it’s time to start planning for your influencer marketing campaign.

Remember: There are various ways to collaborate with an influencer, but not all of them will be a good fit for your brand. The key is to find the one that best aligns with your goals.

    Some standard options include:

    • Shout-outs:

A mention of your brand on social media, in a blog post, vlog, or even in a podcast. The goal is to increase visibility, driving more traffic to your website. The influencer may or may not receive compensation for this.

Shaina, a creative fitness and yoga teacher, offers a good example. She usually posts Instagram and TikTok videos showing quick (but muscle-torching) routines, thus promoting her app. In this post, however, she mentions Altra Running using emphatic words: “officially hooked,” “shoe struggle,” “ONE time,” etc. You can also notice the build-up and the hyperboles paired with the objective product description. The CTA “Go get yours” written in capital letters and followed by three exclamation marks is very convincing because:

    • It’s the natural continuation of the previous points.
    • It’s nicely fitted between an accurate product description and the workout’s structure details. As such, Marie’s CTA pops out between two less intense arguments with a rhetorical force that would make Aristotle proud.

    • Reviews & unboxing videos:

The content creator uses and reviews your product on their channels, driving awareness and teaching their audience about its features and benefits. These videos work great for products that are hard to explain with words alone or if you’re targeting tech-savvy audiences that prefer seeing a product in action before they buy it.

    • Tutorials & how-to’s:

The influencer uses your product to create content that’s helpful to their audience. For example, a cooking influencer could use your kitchen supplies to show their audience how to cook a specific dish. These videos are great when you want to position your product as the solution to a problem your target audience is facing. It’s also what Carter Sullivan did for Mogo in the above example.

    • Contests & giveaways:

The influencer runs a game on their channels, with your products or services as prizes. This is a great way to increase engagement and get people talking about your brand.

    • Sponsored posts:

The influencer promotes your brand on their channels in a paid partnership. These can be in the form of written blog posts, social media posts, or even videos.

In the post below, Jo promotes three products: a wig, underwear, and a new pantsuit – all from three different brands. What makes this sponsored post different?

You can see Jo using the products, showing how they fit her specific body shape and image.

You can see a nice contrast with the following example. Dr. Noc is a Ph.D. immunologist. Both his TikTok and Instagram clips aim to educate a large young audience on different science and medicine-related topics.

This is a great way to increase engagement and get people talking about your brand, leveraging user-generated content on TikTok or Instagram.

Bonus: Dr. Noc is always dressed up, wearing a shirt and a nice pair of pants.

That’s why this clip below is so catchy.

    Dr-Noc-Influencer-marketing-campaign-steps
    Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/CgRxCIRg9bp/

People can get a kick from seeing Dr. Noc running on the treadmill and lifting weights in his Mark Weldon shirt and pants. Besides, the video is the visual representation of a pun; Dr. Noc asks his followers if they ever get tired in the gym, saying that it never happens to him because he’s always “professionally attired.”

    Why it works:

Humor is an effective rhetorical strategy because it suspends critical analysis. On this permeable ground, the 20% discount code is the final push people need to access the Mark Weldon website and buy from it.

Remember: Both these videos use emotion and strategies that fit the content creators’ personalities. The result is they don’t seem sales even if they’re sponsored posts.

    • Product placement:

The influencer features your product prominently in their content without explicitly talking about it or promoting it. This is a great way to subtly get your product in front of a new audience.

    4. Measure the results of your campaign

There’s no point in running an influencer marketing campaign if you’re not going to measure the results. After all, you need to know what’s working and what’s not to adjust your strategy accordingly.

Some of the most important metrics to track include:

    • Reach: How many people saw your campaign?
    • Engagement: How many people engaged with your campaign (liked, commented, shared)?
    • Website traffic: How much traffic did your website get due to the campaign? (You need URL tracking.)
    • Sales: How many sales can be attributed to the campaign? (Follow your discount codes and UTM links)

You can use Google Analytics, social media analytics tools like Replug or ContentStudio, or even a simple spreadsheet to track these metrics. Just make sure to monitor progress over time to see whether your campaign is successful.

Remember: The indicators above will differ according to your goals. Even if all companies eventually want to increase their ROI, your objective, for now, can be a higher reach without emphasizing sales, traffic, or engagement.

    Warning: Don’t become complacent!

If your audience is warmed up enough to buy your products, don’t create yet another engagement campaign. That’s another reason why working with an influencer marketing agency is essential at first; an experienced agency will be able to guide you outside your comfort zone, advising you wisely according to your current stats.

    5. Adjust your strategy as needed

Lastly, once you’ve measured your campaign results, the next step is to make some adjustments to your influencer marketing campaign. If something isn’t working, don’t be afraid to change it.

For example, suppose you’re not getting the reach you wanted.

In that case, you might need to consider working with bigger-scale influencers, diversifying your channels, or including social media ads into the mix. If engagement is low, you might need to adjust your content or offer more incentives for people to engage.

The important thing is to be flexible and willing to change things up if necessary.

Influencer marketing is an ever-evolving field, and what works today might not work tomorrow. The only way to find out is to experiment and see what works best for your brand.

    Wrap Up

Influencer marketing can be a great way to reach new audiences and promote your products or services. Following the steps above, you can set up a solid campaign to help you achieve your business goals.
